Curtains Rise for Drama Festival as Part of 14th Malayalam Festival

As part of the 14th Malayalam Festival, Malayala Bhasha Pracharana Sangham, Mumbai is organising a Drama Festival on February 1, 2026, showcasing the vibrant theatrical talent within the Malayali community.

The festival will commence at 9.00 am at the Chembur Adarsha Vidyalayam Auditorium. A total of 15 short plays, representing various units of the Malayalam Language Promotion Group, have been registered for the competitive event.

The drama competition will be conducted in two categories — Group A for participants below 25 years of age and Group B for those above 25 years. Each play, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, will be staged in accordance with the festival guidelines. An incentive award of ₹5,000 will be given for every play performed on stage following the prescribed norms.

In addition, trophies will be awarded for Best Play, Second Best Play, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

The festival will be formally inaugurated by renowned theatre activist Suma Mukundan, marking a day-long celebration of Malayalam theatre and creativity.
