In a significant milestone reflecting inclusive leadership and community trust, Marshlin Ajil Chacko has registered a resounding victory in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation elections from Ward 26 (Vikas Aghadi–B), winning by a margin of over 1,400 votes.
Marshlin Chacko is the wife of Ajil Chacko hailing from Pathanamthitta, Kerala. She has been a resident of Vasai for nearly two decades. After her marriage to social activist Ajil Chacko, she embraced the local culture and language, learning to read and write Malayalam—an effort that resonated strongly with the sizeable Malayali voter base in the ward.
Soon after assuming office, the newly elected corporator assured parishioners of St. Thomas Church, Vasai, that she would exert maximum pressure on the civic administration to facilitate the construction of a new prayer hall and school. She was addressing a reception organised by the parish following her election.
Her victory and early commitments stand as a symbol of grassroots democracy, cultural integration, and responsive leadership, earning appreciation from residents across communities in Vasai.
