National Youth Day Celebrated by Bombay Keraleeya Samajam, Matunga

Bombay Keraleeya Samajam celebrated National Youth Day on Sunday, January 11, with a meaningful and vibrant programme held at the Kerala Bhavanam Navathi Memorial Hall, marking the Jayanti of Swami Vivekananda.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the traditional Bhadradeepam, setting a solemn and inspiring tone to the evening. Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Sunil Kutty graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Samajam Vice President K. Devadas presided over the function, while Secretary A. R. Devadas delivered the welcome address. Joint Secretary T. A. Sasi proposed the vote of thanks.

As part of the celebrations, around fifteen talented singers presented melodious songs, adding colour and youthful energy to the event. The Secretary briefed the audience on the various activities undertaken by the Samajam. Treasurer M. V. Ravi, Youth Wing Convener Albankumar, and Premarajan Nambiar were also present on the dais.

An essay competition for youth on the topic “Clean Food and Complete Health” was organised in connection with National Youth Day. Malavika Azhakeshan secured the first prize and Jishnu S. Panicker won the second prize, receiving cash awards and plaques. Consolation prizes were awarded to Swathi Sivadasan, Reshma Suresh, Hridiya Gokuldas, and Siddhija Nair.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sunil Kutty delivered an insightful lecture on diet, healthcare, and the importance of regular exercise for today’s youth. He also interacted with the audience and answered questions, making the session highly engaging and informative.

The programme reflected the spirit of National Youth Day by combining cultural expression with awareness on health and holistic living, reinforcing the ideals of Swami Vivekananda among the younger generation.
