Naadam Viveka Award Presented to Guru Vijay Shanker

The Naadam Viveka Award was presented to Guru Vijay Shanker, noted classical dance exponent and arts critic, in recognition of his outstanding and invaluable contribution to Indian classical dance for over forty-five years. The award was conferred during Naadam Nrityotsav, held at Terna Auditorium, Navi Mumbai on December 28.

The award was presented by Dr Joy Krishnan and Vineeta Srinandan. Guru Vijay Shanker, a respected Kuchipudi and Kathakali exponent, has made significant contributions as a performer, mentor, and critic, playing a key role in preserving and promoting India’s classical dance heritage.

The two-day Naadam Nrityotsav featured a competition-cum-festival with the participation of several upcoming and established dancers, offering a vibrant platform for artistic expression and cultural exchange.

The event was inaugurated by Dr Jayashree Rajagopalan as Chief Guest, while Guru Vijay Shanker was also honoured as the Guest of Honour. The festival marked yet another meaningful initiative in celebrating excellence and lifelong dedication to the classical arts.
