

The disciples of veteran Carnatic musician and revered guru Smt. Prasanna Warrier will be felicitated by her students during a felicitation ceremony at the Mysore Association hall, Matunga, on January 3, 2026, to commemorate her 75th birthday and honour her lifelong contribution to Carnatic music.
The highlight of the evening will be a special Carnatic concert by the Chief Guest, Prince Rama Varma, one of the most respected exponents of the classical tradition today.
Born in Wayanad, Kerala, Smt. Prasanna Warrier began her Carnatic music training at a very young age and later pursued advanced studies under several eminent gurus with a special mention of Guru T. R. Balamani Amma under whom She has spent a long time for learning . Despite family responsibilities and frequent relocations, she continued her rigorous musical training and went on to build an illustrious career as a performer and teacher. Over the past four decades, she has trained and mentored thousands of students in India and abroad, many of whom have established themselves as accomplished Carnatic vocalists and playback singers.
Prince Rama Varma, a descendant of the legendary composer Maharaja Swati Tirunal, is widely acclaimed for his scholarly approach, crystal-clear renditions and thoughtfully curated repertoires that include rare compositions alongside classical masterpieces. As a performer and teacher, he has played a significant role in making Carnatic music accessible and appealing to younger generations across the world.
The felicitation ceremony and concert are expected to be a fitting tribute to Smt. Prasanna Warrier’s enduring legacy as a guru who has inspired generations through her dedication, discipline and passion for Carnatic music.
