Mulund Kerala Samajam, known for its long-standing commitment to social welfare alongside cultural activities, organised a humanitarian food distribution drive on December 15, reaffirming its dedication to supporting the underprivileged.
As part of its newly charted three-year roadmap, the Samajam’s Managing Committe elected in October has prioritised initiatives aimed at assisting those who struggle daily to meet basic needs. In line with this vision, the Samajam, under the leadership of President T. K. Rajendrababu, partnered with Mumbai Roti Bank, a prominent voluntary organisation, to distribute lunch to around 200 beneficiaries, including patients and their attendants, at the KEM Hospital premises.
The initiative brought visible relief and happiness to the recipients, reflecting the positive impact of the collective humanitarian effort. The food distribution was carried out by President T. K. Rajendrababu along with office bearers K. Muralidharan Nair, A. Radhakrishnan, Balachandran, and Sasidharan Nair, with active support from Mumbai Roti Bank volunteers Jayendra Nath Tambe, Rama Nair, and Mamata.
Mumbai Roti Bank functions under the guidance and patronage of former Mumbai Police Commissioner D. Sivanandan, whose leadership has significantly strengthened its mission to combat hunger across the city.
Samajam Secretary Edassery Ramachandran stated that such initiatives exemplify how community organisations can bring about meaningful change through compassion, cooperation, and direct action, adding that Mulund Kerala Samajam will continue its commitment to social service.
