Sashikumar Nair, Secretary of the Thane Hill Garden Ayyappa Bhakta Sangam (HGABS), was felicitated by his classmates from the 1977 SSLC batch of Chembur Adarsh Vidyalaya in a warm and meaningful function held recently.

The honour was in recognition of his dedicated leadership and over three decades of committed service in spearheading the Sangam’s charitable and social welfare activities. As a special gesture, his classmate and noted artist Usha Prabhakaran presented him with a unique painting of Lord Ayyappa, creatively rendered using coffee powder.

Usha Prabhakaran, currently based in Palakkad, has been a consistent supporter of the Sangam’s charitable initiatives. She regularly donates her artworks for HGABS auctions, with the proceeds being utilised for various social service projects. Each year, she dedicates her time to creating nearly ten paintings exclusively for the Sangam, which are sent from Palakkad to support its humanitarian efforts.

In a reciprocal gesture of appreciation, the 1977 batch of Chembur Adarsh Vidyalaya also honoured Usha Prabhakaran for her artistic contributions and continued association with service-oriented activities. Office bearers of HGABS noted that members of the batch remain actively involved in the Sangam’s charitable programmes, strengthening its mission of service and devotion.
