Immaculate Conception Church Wins First Prize at Christmas Carol Competition

The Christmas Carol Competition and Ecumenical Conference ‘Gloria 2025’ was inaugurated by former Prelate of the Mavelikkara Diocese, Bishop Dr. Joshua Mar. Archbishop Mar Sebastian Vaniyapurakkal of the Kalyan Archdiocese delivered the Christmas message. Renowned music director and singer Alphonse Joseph graced the event as the chief guest.

Organized under the auspices of St. Thomas Malankara Catholic Church, the event saw enthusiastic participation from 19 church choirs across Mumbai, Thane, Vasai, Kalyan, Navi Mumbai and Panvel.

In the carol competition, Immaculate Conception Syro Malabar Church, Dombivli won the first prize, Mar Thoma Church, Kalyan West second, and St. Paul’s Orthodox Church, Powai third prize.

Priests, sisters, and representatives of various Christian organizations from Mumbai and Pune attended the conference. Speeches were delivered by Vicar General Monsignor Shaji Mathews Vazhavil, Vicar Fr. Cyril Michael, and Convener Mathew Thomas.

As part of the event’s charitable mission, financial assistance was handed over to the Seva Social Service Society of the diocese.
