A rare and heartfelt moment on the sets of Mahesh Narayanan’s ‘Patriot’ in Kochi
In a warm and memorable gesture, Malayalam cinema’s iconic actor Mammootty honoured fellow legend Mohanlal, who recently won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest recognition for contributions to cinema. The special moment unfolded on the sets of director Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming film Patriot in Kochi.
Mammootty welcomed Mohanlal by draping a traditional shawl over him, symbolising respect and admiration. This meeting was especially significant as it marked the duo’s first interaction since Mohanlal received the national honour.
The atmosphere on the set was filled with warmth as members of the film crew witnessed two giants of Indian cinema sharing a moment of camaraderie. Present during the occasion were Mahesh Narayanan, producer Anto Joseph, co-producer C.R. Salim, actor Kunchacko Boban, Kannada actor Pratheesh Balavadi, and cinematographer Manush Nandan.
Mohanlal had joined the final schedule of Patriot on the same day, making Mammootty’s congratulatory visit even more special. Industry insiders described it as a “rare and touching moment” that reflected the mutual respect and friendship the two actors have maintained over decades.
