The Asthika Samaj (Sree Ram Mandir & Kochu Guruvayoor), Matunga—one of Mumbai’s oldest and most revered spiritual institutions—is conducting the Maha Kumbhabhishekam and Sahasra Brahma Kalasabhishekam, a rare and spiritually significant programme, from December 3 to 12, 2025.
Established in 1923, The Asthika Samaj houses the deities of Lord Sree Ramachandra, Sita Devi, Lakshmana, Hanuman, Lord Karthikeya, Navagrahas, Lord Kochu Guruvayoorappan, and Swamy Ayyappan. Over a century, the temple has grown into an important centre of Vedic worship and cultural activities, often referred to as Kochu Guruvayoor due to its unique spiritual lineage.
This ongoing ten-day ceremony is being conducted under the guidance of Brahmasri P. C. Dineshan Namboodiripad, Thantri of the revered Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple, along with a team of experienced Vedic scholars and priests.
Highlights of the Programmes are,
Maha Kumbhabhishekam — performed once in 12 years to re-energize the temple’s spiritual sanctity and invoke divine grace,
Sahasra Brahma Kalasabhishekam (1008 Kalasas) to Lord Kochu Guruvayoorappan and 108 Dravya Kalasabhishekam to Swamy Ayyappan,
Special Vedic and Tantric rituals including Mura Japam, Prayaschitha Homams, Maha Panchakam, Chathuh Sudhi, Samadhi Sudhi, Adhivasa Homam, Brahma Kalasa Poojas, and various sacred offerings and homams.
Devotees are assured of divine blessings, spiritual upliftment, removal of obstacles, improved well-being, and prosperity through participation in these rituals.
The programme, held during the auspicious Mandalam season, offers devotees a rare opportunity to witness centuries-old Vedic traditions performed with full grandeur and adherence to Aagama Shastras. Special pushpanjalis, homams and archanas will also be offered for the welfare of devotees.
