Marking the final phase of the year-long 10th anniversary celebrations of the Vasai based Vasai Fine Arts Society, a series of events will be held from December 3 to December 7 at the Sri Sabarigiri Ayyappa Temple Prayer Hall, Vasai West.
The Society, known for promoting and preserving scientific art forms, is concluding its milestone year with a five-day cultural extravaganza.
The formal inauguration will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, by renowned journalist Alakananda. Distinguished personalities from Mumbai’s socio-cultural fraternity will grace the ceremony.
A star-studded lineup of chief guests throughout the festival includes film stars Seema G. Nair, Sijo Varghese, Rachana Narayanan Kutty, and Padmasree Mattanur Sankarankutty, Chairman of the Kerala Sangeetha Akademi and acclaimed percussionist.
Day-wise Programme Details are : Day 1 – Wednesday, December 3 will begin with the chanting of Ayyappa Sahasranama, led by Guru Nandini Madhavan and her disciples.This will be followed by dance performances by noted Mumbai-based dance gurus,Smita Manoj Nair,Sathi Vijayakumar, Pavithra Bhatt and Latha Surendra.
The highlight of the day is the Thullal Trio—a rare presentation where Ottan Thullal, Parayan Thullal, and Sitaangan Thullal will be performed together on the same stage for the first time in Mumbai, led by Kalamandalam Suresh Kaliyam. The second day ( December 5) will feature group dance presentations by celebrated artistes including Kalamandalam Rajitha, Nisha Gilbert. Dr. Chitraviswanathan, Saigeetha Mohan and Lakshmi Sibi Sathyan.The evening will conclude with a Kalari Payattu display by Vadakara Choorakoodi Moosa and his team. On Day 3 ( Friday, December 5 from 6.30 pm ), a special violin concert by the young and accomplished violinist Ganga Sasidharan will be the main attraction. The fourth day’s sessions Saturday, December 6) include a Kathakali workshop and Cholliyattam led by Kalamandalam Biju followed by a Kuchipudi production titled Monsoon Anuraga, choreographed and performed by film star Rachana Narayanankutty and her team.
The concluding day ( Sunday December 7 from 9 am)
begins with a traditional Panchavadyam recital led by Kariyannur Narayanan Namboothiri and Kottakkal Ravi. From 2 p.m., the grand Pandi Melam will be presented by the Mela Pramanam of the Thrissur Pooram Thiruvambadi team—Cherusseri Kuttanmarar and Chovvalur Mohana Warrier.The day will end with a performance of the Kathakali classic “Duryodhana Vadham”, presented by the prestigious Kottakkal PSV Natya Sangham.
