Vibrant Onam and Kerala Piravi Celebrations by Malad East Malayali Samajam

The Mumbai Malad East Malayali Samajam celebrated Onam and Kerala Piravi with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit at St. Francis High School, Malad East. The day-long festivities began with a flower painting competition for children, setting a joyful tone for the celebration.

The highlight of the morning was the grand welcome to Maveli, followed by a series of art and sports competitions designed for children. The cultural function, chaired by Samajam President A. Johnson, featured vibrant performances and participation from community members.

The event was graced by social activist Baby Geevarghese, writer Pramila Nambiar, journalist Salim Taj, and former NORKA Development Officer Shyamkumar S. Samajam Secretary Shreyas Rajendran introduced the distinguished guests.

During the program, veteran journalist Salim Taj, who has been active in the field of journalism for over five decades, was honored with a gold tiara in recognition of his valuable contributions. The felicitation ceremony was conducted by Vandana Sathyan.

Children of the Samajam members and winners of the flower competition were also felicitated with cash awards. The celebrations concluded with a grand Onasadya, bringing together members in a spirit of unity and tradition.
