Renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Kalashri Dr. Lata Surendra was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious Satyabhama Nrithyotsav 2026, held at the Mahati Auditorium, Tirupati, on July 11 and 12.
The award was presented by Shri K. V. Muralikrishna, IPS, Chief Vigilance & Security Officer, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), and Shri S. Ravi Shankar Narayan, IRS, former Commissioner of Income Tax.
Organised by Festival Director Shri Vikram Goud, Founder of Nataraj Dance Academy, the internationally acclaimed festival was initiated by legendary Kuchipudi exponent and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Shobanaidu. The two-day event featured outstanding performances by leading classical dancers from across India.
Dr. Lata Surendra captivated the audience with her thematic Bharatanatyam solo “Radha – Dhara of Life,” portraying the eternal spiritual union of Radha and Krishna through expressive choreography and profound storytelling. The production was conceptualised, choreographed and presented by Dr. Lata Surendra, with original music composed by Shri N. N. Shivaprasad.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises Dr. Lata Surendra’s exceptional contribution to Indian classical dance and her continued dedication to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Bharatanatyam.
