Renowned cultural organiser, theatre personality and founder of the Soorya Stage and Film Society, Soorya Krishnamoorthy, passed away at the age of 75. He was a prominent figure in Kerala’s cultural landscape, best known for the iconic Soorya Festival, which brought together leading artistes from across India.
For decades, the festival served as a celebrated platform for music, dance, theatre and other art forms. Eminent artistes including K. J. Yesudas, Shobana and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, among many others, have been associated with the festival.
Through his lifelong dedication to the arts, Soorya Krishnamoorthy made a lasting contribution to Kerala’s cultural heritage and created opportunities for generations of artistes and art lovers.
