The autobiography ” Ennum Priyapetta Mumbai “by former Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Vellodi Balachandran was released at a function held at the Mumbai Keraleeya Samajam on Sunday September 20.
The book was released by noted Mumbai-based writer and storyteller C. P. Krishnakumar at a function presided over by P. R. Krishnan. The first copy was received by Bombay Keraleeya Samajam Secretary and Vishala Keralam Editor A. R. Devadas.
The programme was inaugurated with a prayer song and welcome address by Organising Committee Convener Madhu Nambiar. Writer K. Rajan conducted the book release ceremony.
P. R. Krishnan, Unni Menon, C. P. Krishnakumar, A. R. Devadas and India Today Executive Editor M. G. Arun spoke on the occasion. They highlighted the significance of Balachandran’s long association with Mumbai and his contribution to public life.
Sreeprasad Vadakkepad, Satyanathan, Linod Varghese, Manoj Mundayad, Harilal, Captain Devadas, Raagalaya Vijayakumar, Sachin Menon, Kalathoor Vinayan, Jayaraman and Vijaya Menon also offered their greetings.
Responding to the felicitations, Vellodi Balachandran thanked the literary and cultural activists, friends and well-wishers who attended the function and supported the publication of the book.
Premraj Nambiar coordinated the programme, while C. H. Gopalakrishnan proposed the vote of thanks.
Ennum Priyapetta Mumbai presents Balachandran’s memories and experiences of Mumbai, a city with which he has shared a long and close association. The autobiography also traces various phases of his professional life and reflects on the people, places and experiences that shaped his journey in Mumbai.
