Reinforcing its unwavering commitment to the welfare of underprivileged and tribal communities, the Nanma Charitable Foundation, a Mumbai-based Malayali voluntary organization, is set to launch its year-long Comprehensive Rural School Development Project in Vehloli, a tribal village in Shahapur Taluka of Thane district, on July 4.
The ambitious initiative will directly benefit 354 students studying in various schools in the village through a six-phase development programme spread across one year. The project will be inaugurated with the distribution of study materials to all the students.
Announcing the initiative, Foundation Secretary Sunil Raj said the project is aimed at enhancing educational opportunities, improving children’s health, strengthening school infrastructure, and creating a healthier learning environment in one of the region’s most educationally backward tribal villages.
Located nearly 85 kilometres from Mumbai, Vehloli has been selected for a holistic intervention that addresses multiple aspects of students’ welfare and school development.
The six phases of the project include:
Phase I: Distribution of study materials to 354 students.
Phase II: Supply of computers, tree saplings, rainwater harvesting tanks, and essential school safety facilities.
Phase III: School painting, beautification, sanitation, and campus cleaning drives.
Phase IV: Distribution of eating utensils to students.
Phase V: Supply of medicines and nutritional supplements to promote children’s health.
Phase VI: Installation of water purifiers and distribution of Diwali sweets to students.
A dedicated team of Nanma volunteers will implement the project throughout the year, ensuring sustained support rather than a one-time intervention.
Apart from rural development, the Kalyan-based Nanma Charitable Foundation has also extended educational assistance this year to nearly 100 differently-abled students through its Nanma Educational Assistance Initiative, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive social development.
A Legacy of Rural Service
Nanma began its rural development journey in 2014 by adopting Dandavalgaon, a tribal village in Mokhada Taluka of Palghar district. Since then, the Foundation has undertaken several impactful initiatives focused on education, healthcare and community welfare.
Its activities have included the distribution of nutritious food, educational materials, and essential supplies, along with organising free medical camps and cataract surgeries for tribal residents. Similar development programmes were later implemented in eight Zilla Parishad schools in Shahapur Taluka (2016), Plotpad village, Munchachimedu (2018), Vikaswadi (2019), and Morhanda in Palghar district (2021).
Sunil Raj said every project undertaken by Nanma is driven by the vision of education, health advancement and empowerment of Maharashtra’s tribal communities.
He emphasised that the Foundation’s achievements are the result of collective teamwork and the generous support of socially committed well-wishers. He appealed to philanthropists and like-minded individuals to continue supporting Nanma’s mission of bringing meaningful change to marginalised rural communities.
The Foundation’s dedicated team of volunteers includes Sunil Raj, Divya Nair, Mridul Prabhakar, Nandana, and several other service-minded individuals who have been working tirelessly to transform lives through education, healthcare and community development.
With the launch of the Vehloli project, Nanma Charitable Foundation once again demonstrates how sustained community participation and compassionate service can create lasting social impact in Maharashtra’s tribal belt. For more details contact on +919769232244
