As part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations, Seawoods Malayali Samajam is organizing Grama Chanda, a nostalgic Kerala village fair, at Ganesh Maidan, Sector 48, Seawoods, on June 6 from 4.30 pm onwards.

The highlight of the event will be a spectacular Kalaripayattu performance based on the legendary duel between Thacholi Othenan and his guru Kathiroor, presented in four dramatic rounds and concluding around 9.30 pm.

The village market will recreate the atmosphere of traditional Kerala fairs with tea and stew stalls, kanji and kappa counters, fresh fish stalls, local snacks, handicrafts, folk displays, swings, a mini library, Panchagusti, an old-style lottery and an old songs singing competition.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of authentic Kerala delicacies from food vendors participating in the festival. Entry is free and the event is expected to attract people from across Mumbai.

Committed to sustainability, the Samajam plans to make the event plastic-free by distributing cloth bags and promoting the message, “Local is the Future.”
