Shri Shailesh Kumar Balan (72), noted Mumbai-based social activist and Chairman of the Ayyappagiri Ayyappa Mission, Ambernath, passed away while attending the Ayyappagiri Temple festival in Ambernath.

A resident of Kher Section, Ambernath East, Shri Shailesh Kumar Balan devoted over three decades to temple administration, serving as Chairman of the Ayyappagiri Temple for 31 years. Alongside a distinguished career in the banking sector, he remained deeply committed to social service. Through initiatives led by him, financial assistance was extended to several deserving students, and uniforms, books, and study materials were distributed for many years, particularly benefiting students of the Kher Section School.

Originally from Kozhikode, Kerala, he had recently completed the construction of his residence at Devi Nagar Housing Society, Kozhikode, with plans to settle there.

He is survived by his wife Indira and daughter Ramita.
Shri Ayyappa Mission, Ambernath, has expressed profound grief over his passing and condoled the loss of a dedicated leader and compassionate humanitarian.
