Former Kerala Minister and member of the State Secretariat of the Muslim League, Kutty Ahamed Kutty, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 10 a.m. He was 71 years old. His death occurred at his residence in Tanur, Malappuram district. Kutty Ahamed Kutty held several significant positions, including State Secretary and Vice President of the Muslim League, as well as Chairman of the Local Self-Government Board. He served as the Minister for Local Self-Government in the Oommen Chandy government from 2004 to 2006. He was first elected from Tanur in a by-election in 1992, following the death of P. Seethi Hajee. He later won from Tirurangadi in 1996, 2001, and 2006. After an accident that injured his vertebral column, he ceased contesting elections but continued to fulfill responsibilities assigned by his party. Earlier in his career, he served as the president of the local panchayat for two consecutive terms. He is survived by his wife, Jahanara, and children Suhana, Suhas Ahamed, and Shahabas Ahamed. His body was laid to rest in the Kabaristan of Tanur Vadakkepalli Jumuath Masjid.
