Former Indian team player and Indian Football Coach T K Chathunni (79) breathed his last on June 12 morning in a private hospital in Kurukutti.

Chathunni was born on January 29, 1945 to late Kundunni and Parvati. He served the game of football as player and coach for over half a century, starting from the school ground of Chalakkudi. He was a player of EME Secunderabad, Vasco Goa, Orkay Mills Bombay, Services, Goa and Maharashtra teams. He was a part of the winning teams which won Nagji, Chakola, Staford and Nehru trophy. In 1979, he changed role from player to coach. He was coach for Kerala state, Goa Churchill, KSEB, Salgaokar, Mohanbagan, FC Cochin, Viva Kerala, Golden Threads, Josco FC, Viva Chennai etc. He was instrumental for Kerala Police winning Federation Cup.
