Until the problems arising out of shifting of the train journey to Kerala from LTT to Panvel, is solved, FAIMA announced. In a meeting in the regard, representatives of Malayali organisations from 36 districts participated. Only Netravati and Matsyagandha Expresses running along Konkan route are shifted while other trains continue as in the past. This shift creates a lot of problems to thousands of passengers travelling to Kerala and other places along the Konkan route. From certain places, passengers have to pay upto Rs 4000 as taxifare to reach Panvel. Instead of Panvel, these trains could be started from CSMT or LTT, they pointed out. Soon they will meet the General Manager of Central Railway in regard and convey their protest. If the Railways do not agree, they would resort to other methods of protest. The problems faced by passengers from Nagpur, Amaravati, Nashik, Aurangabad, Pune and Konkan region would be placed before the general manager. FAIMA Maharashtra President K M Mohan presided. Maharashtra Malayali Rail Passengers Association was also formed with Sasikumar Nair (President), Shivaprasad K Nair (Secretary) and C H Gopalakrishnan (Treasurer).
