The state government has approved a comprehensive Master Plan for the Temple Town of Guruvayur, aiming to completely transform its appearance. The plan is set to be implemented by 2039 and will be officially notified in the state gazette soon. The plan includes a 100-meter Core Zone surrounding the temple, with inner roads permitted only to enhance facilities for devotees. Any construction between the main road and the outer ring road requires approval from the Chief Town Planner. Buildings within this area will be restricted to a height of 18 meters, a floor area of 3,000 square feet, and a maximum of three floors, all lower than the height of the temple’s flagpole. The outer ring road will be widened to accommodate increased traffic. Additional features of the plan include an overbridge near Mammiyur Junction and a helipad at Chakkamkandam.
