Kharghar Kerala Samajam celebrated Kerala Day on the 68th anniversary of the formation of the state of Kerala. Although the concept of Kerala was prevalent, it was not recognized as a historical day until 1957, when Travancore-Cochin was an independent unit and Malabar was part of the then Madras State.
The celebration took place in the party hall of the Pacific building. Office bearers of the Samajam and students from the Malayalam Mission lit the ceremonial lamp to commence the festivities. Singers gathered to perform songs that highlighted Kerala’s multifaceted persona.
Samyukta Vasudevan introduced sopana sangeetam, while both young and old shared their cherished concepts about Kerala. Group performances, individual renderings, and folk songs added depth to the three-hour celebration. Drawing and painting contests were held, with winners receiving recognition.
Secretary Manoj K. N., President Pradeep Kumar K. P., and Joint Secretary Ajita Valsalan addressed the gathering. Sajesh Kumar served as the master of ceremonies.
