After revealing a case involving several crores of rupees against ADGP Ajitkumar in a press conference, CPI(M) independent MLA P.V. Anwar, who contested the election on the party's symbol, met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the latter’s chamber. Anwar was with the Chief Minister for half an hour and later told the media that, as an MLA, he had fulfilled his duty by exposing the guilty with the facts, leaving the next steps to the Chief Minister. Anwar added that he had not demanded any transfer, suspension, or punishment for Ajitkumar IPS.
Despite speculations that Ajitkumar, along with Sasi and Malappuram SP Sujitdas, might face consequences, they were left undisturbed. During the Chief Minister’s police conference, Ajitkumar was present, but there were no visible signs of familiarity between him and the Chief Minister, leading the media to speculate about potential repercussions. After deliberation, political leaders are believed to have decided against any adverse action, fearing it could impact police morale. This approach follows a practice maintained since the first EMS ministry in the state.
It has now been confirmed that the enquiry committee will be headed by a DGP, but all other members of the committee will be drawn from ranks below Ajitkumar’s. This arrangement is intended to ensure that no one will be adversely affected, allowing the situation to be resolved smoothly.
