Former doctor attached to Army Medical Corps Dr Major Nalini Janarddhanan has been bestowed with Mother Theresa Jeeva Karunya Seva Award 2024 instituted by Jeeva Karunya Charitable Trust. This award is given to doctors dedicated to service to the needy persons in India. She was serving the country and afterwards continued to serve as a family doctor. She has shown her talents in music and literature. She was also an artist recognised by All India Radio and Doordarshan. She used to sing Gazals and Sugam Sangeet for them.
Dr Nalini Janarddhanan was presented the award, held at Mahakavi Kumaran Asan Smaraka Hall, Dehu Road, Pune during the Annual Day of the Trust. K V Dharmarajan, S P Chandramohan, V S Soman et al were present among the invited guests on this occasion.
DR Nalini Janarddhanan has conducted programmes for the cultural festivals of Government of Andhra Pradesh, Marathi-Malayali cultural Meets, Kerala Festivals, Country Club etc. She held these programmes to raise funds to help old and disabled people. Further, she conducted medical camps, free medical care for the poor. She has written and published more than 3000 articles, poems, healthcare notes in a wide range of periodicals and books, about medicine, music, devotion, music therapy etc in Malayalam and English. Her interviews were presented in AIR, Door Darshan, Kaumudi TV, Mangalam T V etc. She used to publish articles on these subjects in Streedhanam, Mahila Ratnam, Pradeepam, Vagdevata, Ayushspandanam, Jwala etc. More than ten international publications have published articles about her missionary zeal.
Dr Nalini Janrddhanan has received Panampilli Smaraka Gold Medal, Award for best Short Story, Patriot Award, Our Health Literary Award instituted by Indian Medical Association, Padmashri Sukumari Kalapratibha Award for best singer, Smile Plus Award, Vanita Ratnam Award, Raagalaya Excellence Award, Award for Best Female Medical Officer instituted by Kashmir to Kerala Foundation and many more.
As editor of Aishwarya Darpanam Magazine, she encouraged more than a thousand youngsters to literary work. She instituted several scholarships to the deserving poor students across India to continue their studies. She also helped the poor to build homes by providing necessary funds. Help for Self employment, marriage expenses for poor girls are also provided. More than 15,500 school students benefitted by scholarships amounting Rs 13,17,60,000 deposited directly to their bank accounts.
