Illegal construction of religious buildings cannot be allowed or tolerated and all such constructions should be demolished within a year, ordered Kerala High Court. No consideration of religions such as Hindu, Muslim or Christian should crop up in this matter, ordered Justice P V Kunhikrishnan in his judgement.
God is omnipresent, even in pillars and rust, and hence no need to build a Mandir, Masjid or Church. If any structure of that stature existed, that land should be freed and be distributed among the landless. Then God will be happier and bless all.
The court was dealing with a case filed by Plantation Corporation, related to the construction of religious centers on land leased by the government in Pathanamthitta district. The judgement is applicable not only to the land in this particular case but to all such pieces of land across the state, the judgement elaborates. Chief Secretary of the State should order all district collectors to contact all Tahsildars and village officers without delay. If the order is implemented, it would ensure that the country is free, socialistic, secular and democratic country as envisaged in the preamble of the constitution
The illegal religious structures in the plantation land should be dismantled within six months and in the other places within one year, the order specified. The god will tolerate if the structures for worship could be removed to make roads and highways as there are already enough such structures for worship.
