On the 71st day of his disappearance, the body of Arjun, a Kozhikode-based lorry driver, was discovered in a decomposed state in the Gangavali River in Karnataka. Arjun was last heard from while returning in his lorry after delivering 40 tonnes of timber to Belgavi. He and his truck were trapped in a landslide at Shirur. Despite extensive efforts by government agencies—spending crores of rupees and involving the fire brigade, navy, air force, boats, highly skilled divers, and volunteers—the search yielded no results for days, weeks, and months. Heavy flooding swept the lorry and Arjun down the river, complicating recovery efforts.

According to disaster management authorities, Arjun’s Benz truck was located around 2:30 PM on September 25, at a site previously identified by a team of drone experts led by Major General M. Indrabalan (Retd). His body was found in the cabin of the truck. Ongoing dredging operations conducted by the State Disaster Response Force and the National Disaster Response Force also recovered cattle bones and parts of vehicles, including tires and a steering wheel, from the river.

On September 25, Arjun’s truck was seen floating on the river’s surface, prompting the deployment of a dinghy to retrieve his remains from the vehicle. A DNA test will now be conducted to confirm the identity of the recovered body as Arjun's.
