During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on the rapidly increasing Ziyarat travel and the growing interest among Indian pilgrims and travellers in visiting Iraq—a land celebrated for its ancient civilization, rich culture, and deep spiritual heritage.
A key highlight of the discussion was the introduction of Iraq’s new E-Visa system, which has significantly simplified access for travellers. The Consul General emphasized that the streamlined visa process is expected to open wider opportunities to strengthen pilgrimage tourism and enhance people-to-people connectivity between the two nations.
Abdul Kareem appreciated the proactive initiatives of the Consulate and expressed optimism about the future of religious and cultural tourism to Iraq. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting collaborative efforts aimed at facilitating smooth, safe, and meaningful travel experiences for Indian pilgrims and visitors.
With rising interest in Ziyarat destinations such as Najaf, Karbala, Baghdad, and Kadhimayn, the discussion marks a positive step toward deepening cooperation and expanding tourism exchanges between India and Iraq.
