Nair Welfare Society Mulund adopts few villages in Bheed

The Nair Welfare Society, Mulund has adopted few villages in Bheed district of Maharashtra. The children of this place has to walk 5 to 10 kms to reach their scools. These villges are most backward ones without any infrastructure. Female foeticide, child marriages, rapes, malnutrition, lack of transportation etc are rampant in this area.  First time ever a welfare association of Nair's  (community organisation ) has decided to take up this venture to support this noble cause. We are doing it in collaboration with "Lek Ladki Abhiyan", a Satara based NGO who had been fighting against the abuse of woman and child rights.  The inaugural function of refurbishing of Aanganwadi and providing toilets in 4 schools on 9th May.  25 bicycles were distributed to girls to commute to schools from distant places.  For providing further help a fund raising program is scheduled to be held in Kalidas Natyamandir on 30th June. Famous rock band Thaikudam Bridge will perform. Famous film director Padmashri Shyam Benagal will be the chief guest on the occasion.
